Updates

I've been making tracks on the Earth Stripe Stole. I almost have one full repeat of the pattern done (1 repeat = 186 rows). This is definitely one of my favorite projects in a long while. I love how the colors mix together and the KSH is divine.

Just go this in the mail. It is knitglobal Shetland Flame in pink sherbet. Bought it to make this super cute hat!

My mom was getting rid of some old magazines that she didn't like. I thought I would take a look through them to see if there was anything worthwhile. Found this cute Cap Sleeve Vest in an old issue of Knit Simple. I am using some Plymouth Suri Merino from my stash and slightly altering the pattern. Converting it to the round to reduce seaming, and I'm going to reduce the ribbing by 4". So far it is a quick, easy pattern that can easily be worked on during my daily bus rides. Very nice!

Meadow

Pattern: Meadow
Source: Rowan the Tapestry Collection
Designer: Sarah Hatton
Yarn: Rowan Tapestry
Needles: Size 3 and Size 5
Started: September, 2007

Love this yarn and the way it stripes up. It retrospect, I wish that I had made the body longer to fit my torso better. But this will still work.

Woop-woop!

Making lists is the key! I have finished a hat, finished a vest tie, wound balls of yarn, made all the food, finished the vest armholes, finished the 2nd Forecast sleeve and seamed the vest together. All in 2 days as well! Project details to follow.

We had a great Thanksgiving at the in-laws and are currently waiting for ours to finish cooking. Feel that I am coming down with a touch of sickness though. Part cold, part nausea. Not a good thing. That could hamper knitting time!

Gracie was enjoying some afternoon sun today. Glad that she is not outside in the cold wind.

hehe...thought all day long at work about my potential knitting. Had to make a list to make sure I get it all done. I am motivated. Will keep you updated to see if I achieve it all!

Can't Wait...

...for four days of no work, good food and tons of knitting! I am so excited!

We experienced our first bout of sick pup last week. Apparently she got some bacterial "thing" and had the poopy pup runs for 48 hours. Ugh...not fun to clean up. She woke us up many times during the night in dire straights. I felt so bad for her. But she has had a major shot of antibiotics and pills to boot, so is doing much better.

Started the We Call Them Pirates hat this weekend. I just really love knitting hats, especially for the husband.

The parents are out of town this year for Thanksgiving (visiting Brother and SIL), so we are cooking on Friday for my sister. Very excited, because this is the first year of cooking the whole meal. I think it will be fun.

I can't stop thinking about all the knitting time to be had! Looking forward to making big tracks on the Earth Stripe Wrap. My new favorite yarn is definitely KSH. So soft and hazy, can't stop touching it.

Least Favorite

I can't quite decide which is my least favorite part of knitting. Is it the blocking or the seaming? I seem to get held up at both spots. Currently Scott is sitting in a bag waiting to be seamed and zippered.

Meadow had likewise been sitting in a bag for blocking. But I finally forced myself to do it. I just find blocking so boring and time consuming. Making sure everything is perfect. Measuring and pinning it all out. Just to realize that one armhole width is 3 inches and the other is 2. Arggh, I could definitely do without it!! But here she is, all pinned out and correct

Realized after the fact that I had forgot to knit the armhole edgings. Oh well. Will do that right before seaming.

Yep, I think I dislike them evenly enough.

I have been knitting away like crazy on Forecast. Got one sleeve done and half of the other. Feel a determination to get lagging projects out of here. Why does this cardigan look so funny laying there? Good thing it looks good on, because I don't think anyone would buy/make this based upon this picture.

Cowly

Bought this wonderful Plymouth Baby Alpaca Brush on the coast during our Knitters Weekend. Had in mind to make me a cowl to go with a new coat purchase.

Found the pattern on Ravelry...it is My Favorite Cowl by Bonnie Marie Burns.

So soft...the weather has turned and I can start wearing this.

It is nice to have some finished projects!

Bonnie Clyde, Take 2

Maybe you will remember that I made the Clyde Vest quite awhile ago. And I liked it and thought it fit.
But after a fall/winter of not wearing it much (too big), realizing that I made it on HUGE needles, and that I made a size too big, a decision was made.

The decision to rip it! An evening was spent finding all my hidden ends, ripping it out and winding the yarn back up. And I decided to make it again. Here is what I changed:

Made a smaller size
Worked on 1/2 size smaller needles
Knit it in the round to the armholes to eliminate seaming
Took out 2 stitches on each side to accommodate the elimination of seaming

Now I am really happy with this vest. It fits perfectly (really it does now).

Warmth please

Our first sorta-major (in my mind) house project has finally been completed!! We had almost zero insulation in the attic and a friend of ours offered to help us install some more. Lots more....56 bags to be precise:

I also got to experience what my husband will look like when he grows old and gray....

Next on the house list is replacing our old aluminum (and very cold/drafty) windows. Whew...it never ends. Dontcha wish there was endless time and money to complete everything that needs to be done?! Awww, but it is fun. We have now been in the house for a year and can't believe this place is ours. Love it so much.

Knitting has been happening, but I don't have any pictures. I am working on the belt for Meadow. Sleeve of Forecast. I made a green cowl to go with a new coat. And completed a couple more rows on the Earth Stripe Wrap. That's pretty bad, a knitting blog with no knitting pictures.

While I am dying to start new projects, I am really feeling a drive to complete some of those lingering UFO's in my basket. Must dredge up the required amount of motivation to do this.
